it was a literal wake me up when september ends. haha.

i woke up at around 9pm. and ate my dinner.

actually, gutom pa nga ako eh. might have been a very light dinner. but i was eating so many.

argh.

or maybe, ganto lang ako paggabi na.

im waiting for amazing race season 12 to finish downloading and imma watch the first three episodes. :D

i am a fan of reality tv.

one day, i would like to set foot on the mat as Phil Keoghan tells me that i am part of the first team to arrive. or be greeted by Jeff Probst before settling myself in a remote place for 39 days. or rather, be ushered into this house and stay for a 100 days. or be asked by Howie Mandela if it is a deal or a no deal. better yet, conqear my fears as Joe Rogan hands me a check for $100,000.

i would want this to happen in the future.

my opportunities became clearer as i heard of the news that GMA would be fielding in the Filipino version of the popular American series, Survivor.

Survivor for me is the show that started it all. running for 8 years and 16 seasons now, it has been the longest running reality tv show i have known.

i was really looking forward to the location and the castaways. also, i was thinking of the ways how they could turn this Survivor series into our own. but, they could have settled for the original format and i would not complain.

but, things went different as i perceived them to be.

for one, they made the show run every day of the week. the original Survivor is shown once a week and covers the whole 3 days. one week of Survivor Philippines covers 3 days.

that was as boring as hell. you have filler episodes for tuesdays and thursdays. the challenges would run on monday and wednesday and tribal council is shown on a friday.

this is just like PBB Outdoors.

they could, might as well, change the name from Survivor to Pinoy Big Brother: Thailand Outdoors.

that just sucks. i dont want all the arguing crap. i dont want it to look like PBB.

but that is just it.

i might as well go back to watching the original as Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden is showing.

another, they do not have a diverse set of personalities. i know that there are different types of people but looking at the castaways, you know who's in and out of the crowd. you know who they are going to rely on. you know who are strong and who are push-overs.

unlike the original Survivor, we have different types of people.

i just cannot say just how frustrated i am. i love the series. but, i do not love it enough to bear GMA's production.

it was just Pinoy Idol over and over again.

it's a good thing that we're done with the report. i can take that off my back for now and worry about the final paper later in september.

even though we're done, i cannot deny that i am still down.

heartbroken may be a bit exaggerated.

depressed is not the right term.

its just that i am down. or i have this heavy heart. or i cannot put my mind into things worth putting my mind into.

i am a wee bit tense because of the things i've been doing these past few days. i have not been holding back and i am slowly regretting it.

they say that you can only get the things you do not have by doing things you have not yet done. i've done that. and guess what, i still went home empty handed.

or maybe, the ride isnt over yet.

but, anyway.

so, we are back to square one, eh?

early this evening, crunchyroll took my mind off things. i was happy watching these japanese / korean / taiwanese / chinese / filipino series and movies. they did the magic for the first three hours. but everything past that was disaster.

it was good thing, too, that im done with heavy academic load. or else, it will really suffer. and, i dont want that. this is one of those times that you cannot control the emotion you hold inside. spilling it out does not help either as you go looking for more emotion to fill the space left by the emotions you poured out.

this is such a heavy phase of life and i should always take note to be able to cope with this.

i cannot do this in the future.

whitney houston is a good companion at this time of the year. thank you whitney.

can i start my life all over again and be a different person?

i dont really know what to feel right now.

i lost the will to continue doing the report. i just don't know.

it was the time na paakyat ako ng stairs then paglingon ko nakita ko yung crush ko nakatingin sa akin. i mean, it was not intentional na titignan ko siya. but our eyes just met. then it lingered.

ngayon pagnagkakasalubong kami, it just happens na parang nag light up ang mood. or is it just me.

i thought we connected. but i was wrong.

baka ako lang yung gumagawa ng issue.

pero, there are times na nakikita ko siyang nakatingin sa akin then iiwas pag nakatingin na ako sa kanya. at ganon din naman ako sa kanya.

The UAAP Cheerdance Competition is done and here is my analysis of the teams the competed in order of performance

DLSU Animo Squad

honestly, i prefer their performance last year. yes, wala ng wrong spelling. wala na din yung mali yung landing after the tumbling. pero, last year was more refreshing. the wigs that turned into pompoms were great addition.

their pyramids last year were better and more difficult.

UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe

all in all, they were not the Salinggawi that i am used to. they did a clean, but very safe, job.

they were not really snappy and they had slow transitions. ineexpect ko talaga na they would really bring it on. parang movie lang.

pero, like some of my colleagues said, forgettable. this is their weakest performance i've seen.

UP Pep Squad

to tell you the truth, kinabahan talaga ako about UP not winning.

i mean, it was very good. however, medyo magulo nga lang.

sa tingin ko, what saved UP is its difficulty and gymanastics skills. UP has the best tumbling passes. UP had the best and highest tosses. and their pyramids, though shaky, were really difficult.

UP also executed the tic-toc na ang simula ay liberty then magsi-switch yung foot. they are the first squad *ata* to do it in the Philippines.

also, yung routine ng UP is climactic for me. yung ending being the best part of the routine. hindi yung tulad ng ibang squads na fluctuating ang energy level.

FEU Cheering Squad

if not for the fall of their last pyramid, they would have been the cleanest.

yes, they are clean. however, luma na yung routine nila. parang when you see it, you'll say, "hmm, i've seen this before".

malinis ang lines nila. synchronized lalo na sa floor exercise nila.

and, parang wala akong nakitang coherence dun sa kanilang "fire" thing. or was it that they are blazing for passion to win the crown again? pero, with their energy level, its hard to notice.

NU Pep Squad

if there is a most improved squad award, id give it to NU.

i mean, last year, they only have 2-level pyramids. pero ngayon, haha.

also, tumataas na ang tosses pero mahina pa rin ang flyers nila. konting confidence na lang.

tsaka meron silang isang guy na kayang mag-layout ng sunod-sunod. that was wow. pero, isa lang siya. sana kung 3 or more kaya, edi it would have been better.

i expect them to fight DLSU for 7th place. haha.

AdU Pep Squad

maraming napa-wow kasi medyo daring nga ang kanilang stunts.

however, i have the same problem with Adamson since i first met them. i do not like their music. masakit sa tenga ang pagkakamix. parang quilt na sobrang liliit nung tela na pinagtagpi-tagpi.

also, magulo ang formation ng adamson. hindi mo maintindihan kung ano yung gusto nilang buuin. in short, nagmumukhang magulo ang routine.

many people pick them to be part of the winning three, pero i think otherwise.

flashy ang tamang term na kaya nating sabihin sa routine nila. malakas nga ang loob nila pero we never got to see the technical side of things.

gusto ko yung circle thingy by the end of their performance, though.

AdMU Blue Babble Battalion

akala ko magiging contender sila for the top three. but, no.

honestly, mas nagustuhan ko yung last year's performance.

mas kailangan ng guys magsayaw, as in sayaw. like DLSU, mas refreshing panoorin yung last year nila.

pero, maganda ang tosses at tumbling passes ng Ateneo this year. if more people could do tumbling passes, mas magkakaroon pa sana sila ng edge.

mas gusto ko yung guys-turned-bading part nila kesa dun sa UST, mas maayos tignan. mas refreshing, hindi nakakainis.

pero, great work.

UE Pep Squad

hindi talaga ako natuwa.

or hindi ko talaga masyadong maalala yung performance nila.

all i can vividly remember are the umbrellas at yung isang flyer na hindi nasalo ng maayos na muntikan pang dumiretso sa mats.

they could do better than this. kaya pa nilang ma-improve ang gymnastic skills nila.

the winners:

Champion: UP Pep Squad
1st Runner Up: UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe
2nd Runner UP: FEU Cheering Squad

it's still the same top three.

i am looking forward to next year's competition. UP really did set the standards high for next year.

and as the opening spiel of the UP Pep Squad says to everyone, UP Pep Squad is the Benchmark of Originality and Creativity.

till next year. if it is God's will, i want a three-peat. :)

of two forms of desperation

i am in desperate need of creative juice in the same way as people need tickets for the upcoming UAAP cheerdance competition.

the only problem is that creative juice, unlike CDC tickets, is intangible and is almost impossible to be bought.

so, even though i have a CDC ticket, i envy those who still do not have one. because, in essence, they have the probability to acquire what they need even if it involves giving out a big amount of money.

who would in their right mind would sell creative juice? would it be in the aisle where pineapple, orange and mango are displayed? i hope so.

creating this entry is small sign of a spark of creativity. however, it should translate into making a powerpoint presentation about japanese castles. but it would not.

i need some juice and i need it fast.

of different kinds of battles

that was one tiring weekend.

last saturday was the opening of this year's intramurals.

the college of engineering posted is first vicotry against the combined team of the colleges of Home Economics and Architecture, 25-15, 17-25, 15-10.

during the first set, the Engineering Spikers showed their mastery against the other teams as it won by a 10 point margin.

the second set was quite a different story as a differet set of 6 players were asked to play. this was the chance to give others the feel of playing in the intramurals. however, due to several service and attack errors, the team captain felt the need to field in the original players. it was too late as the ChE-Archi team held on to the lead to capture the second set.

the original starters of the game were fielded into the third and deciding set of the game. however, unlike the second, the Engineering team, anchoring on the well executed attacks of the players, soared to victory.

on sunday, the organization that i belong to held its annual sports day for members.

the first game was frisbee. i wanted to try playing however there were people who were more skilled than me. so i let them play instead.

this year, i thought that i would play the games that i can consider as my strengths.

they called for the next game which was limbo rock twins.

haha. this was one of the things i can really do.

my partner and i won the round for men's and would have won over-all if not for the separation of the game into men's and women's categories.

i also played a relay called vice relay. the vices included were eating, blowing, smoking and drinking. i went for the drinking part since we were only to drink sunbolt. our team also won mainly because of gijo's fast eating, cedric's fast blowing, pat j's fast smoking and my fast drinking abilities.

the afternoon games included basketball and volleyball.

i played for volleyball and we won first place.

yesterday was the second game of the Engineering volleyball varsity team.

we faced the combined team of the schools of Economics and Statistics. however, we still prevailed in three sets, 25-12, 21-25, 15-12

like the first game, the first set was relatively easy for the Engineers as they soared to an easy first set victory over the opposing team.

the second set was still the same story as the first game. the rookies and freshmen were given ample time to play to be exposed to the intramurals. this time it was an even match until the 16th point of the other team. after that point they pulled away. the veterans came back inside the court to try to make the most of the situation. however, the Econ-Stat team pushed the limit to pull a deciding set.

the third set was a very close match indeed as the Stat-Econ team pushed Eng'g to the limit. the teams exchanged scores until Econ-Stat had the lead, 12-9. however, the Eng'g team garnered four straight points both from opponent's error and successful attacks. the game ended with a reception error from the Econ-Stat team.

it was a very tiring weekend indeed.

however, the battle did not end there.

just last night, i had to battle out with exhaustion and sleepiness to study for an exam scheduled 5:30pm today.

i was very confident in taking this exam as i was very calm when answering the questions. i was very focused on answering the problems rather than knowing what the time is.

by the time it was ten minutes before the supposed end of the exam, i was done answering and i passed my exam paper.

this is one of the occasions that i left an exam room with a smile in my face.

it was tiring, yes.

and it was worth it.

of improvement and game focus

i just came home from eng'g var training.

it was a bit productive.

and heading into our first game on Saturday against the ChE-Archi team, i think that we should have prepared more.

however, seeing that we practiced position and switching earlier, it was a nice gesture from Jet to do the training for today that way.

he says that the game on Saturday starts on friday night. it is the night when we will condition our body to do the things we ought to do on Saturday.

nice words.

i am starting the game tonight.

i should give myself credit for my improvement.

when it comes to things like this, i always have the feel of being inferior. i always feel that compared to them, i am nothing.

how can i be so inferior when i have done a good job and i have improved.

earlier this evening i had:

at least 4 spikes that were given a NICE ONE remark.
superb services that were given a GOOD SERVE remark.
at least 4 points from my attacks in the pseudo-game.
good ball saves through coverage.

that doesn't seem to be inferior for me at all.

i am improving.

i know i am.

but there are still more things to learn like putting arm strength and not just the clip of the wrist in my attacks. it would give them much power.

anyway, the game is starting and this takes a lot of concentration.

i miss my blog pala.

im sorry if i havent been loyal to you. you know that there are certain priorities that we should focus on and that studies is one of those things.

but i promise, things will get better.

of being home alone and boxes

i lay fast asleep when my sister woke me by 9am.

it turns out, umalis na lahat ng tao sa bahay and i'll be the only one left. so, i said, ill just lock the doors and go back to sleep.

i went online by 10.30am and i was really trying to finish my report in EnE31. i am proud to say that i reached the half-way point. yahoo.

isang topic na lang.

anyway. i was startled by the continuous ringing of doorbell by 12noon. dumating na yung package ni tito from states! woohoo.

2 boxes. so, i excitedly opened both boxes.

masaya yung experience. ako lang mag-isa. tapos parang ukay. haha.

i got shoes. bags. shirts. books and chocolates. yey.

anyway. nothing really exciting happened.

only, it was really awkward being surrounded by mounds of chocolate at one point.

so tempting.

argh. there are easier things than this.

i can tell you, mas madali pa ang hanapin ang annual worth ng isang alternative sa IE150. or hanapin ang NPV ng isang investment given ng annual expenses and revenues. or, test whether a group of data follows the Poisson distribution.

this is life.

things are better learned by practice. not just by reading the book.

pero bakit ang math, unlike love, may textbook?

i just cannot not talk.

it was a very hasty generalization or a generalization without logical basis to say that UP students are fake scholars.

what in the world does he mean by what he tags us UP students as fake scholars?

is it because new students pay at least 21K per semester? in today's world, it is inevitable that there would also be rise in the financial aspect of a quality education. how could we be able to avail of equipment?

the buying power of money 10 years ago, due to it's time value, is not the same as its power today. in fact, the money has more buying power in the past than today. *thanks IE150*

also, we must take into consideration the one-dimensional attack on the word, scholar. scholars are also those who take time to attend school and tries to increase his level of intellect.

being an Iskolar ng Bayan does not mean you pay low tuition fees. being an Iskolar ng Bayan does not necessarily equate to UP students.

Iskolar ng Bayans are those who take time to improve their skill, master their field and help this country rise from its current slump - regardless of subsidized tuition or not.

i am currently studying.

i have a homework in BA.

i have a problem set in IE150.

i have an exam in BA.

i have an exam in IE150.

it is good to know that these two subjects are the almost the same.

it makes the studying part, easier.

it was easier to transform this windows xp into a vista feel. hmpf.
